7 Daily Skincare Hacks Under $10

Many have the perception that skincare is only for the affluent. However, here are 7 simple daily skincare hacks that will prove that anyone – budget conscious or not, can have good skin! Our two cents’ worth (get it?) might just do the trick.

1. Sleep on your Back

sleep

Researchers from the American Academy of Dermatology have found that sleeping in the same position every night can actually lead to wrinkles that stay after you wake up.

The best way to prevent the formation of wrinkles at night would be to sleep on your back, facing up. It might be a little uncomfortable for those used to sleeping in other positions, but better be safe than sorry!

2. Eat a little bit of Garlic

Known for its antioxidants, Garlic should be everybody’s best friend (except vampires, of course!). Not only has it been said to help prevent cancer, it also enhances blood flow, thus giving the skin a natural, healthy glow.

For those with a passion for cooking, add a little bit of Garlic into the menu and let it work its magic. Don’t forget to have some breath fresheners afterwards, though!

3. Have Cold Showers After Hot Ones

As unbearable as they are, cold showers are extremely good for our bodies. They help to hydrate the skin and ‘close’ pores – which keeps your skin smooth and healthy while not drying it out as hot water showers do.

Instead of having to shiver under icy cold water, try this – have a lukewarm shower first, then switch to cold water for the last 3-5 minutes.

P.S. It helps to lift people’s spirits up as well!

(Damage to Pocket: Depending on Water Usage – but the difference is negligible)

4. Sweat

Go for a jog, ride your bike, or anything that makes you sweat. Sweating is nature’s way of eliminating toxins that usually build up under your skin. It also helps with blood circulation and gives you a healthy glow after.

If you are exercising outdoor, don’t forget to put on sunscreen (first rule of thumb!)

5. Use Unscented Baby Powder on Certain Areas

baby powder

Intertrigo, a common skin condition caused by the growth of bacteria or fungi (yes, icky!), occurs when certain areas remain overly moist. These areas are where skin meets skin – like the underarms, inner thighs and depending on size, the under-chest.

To prevent bacteria from fostering at those susceptible areas, simply pat a little bit of unscented baby powder on those areas. It keeps those areas clean and dry.

6. Use Soaps with Added Fats

Foam_Soap_Hands

Instead of using usual deodorant soaps that can be drying to the skin, switch to ones with added fats. Soaps with added fats will leave a beneficial film on the skin, which helps to prevent dehydration of the skin – especially in a tropical climate like ours.

Next time at the grocer, make an effort to check if your soap has added fats!

7. Deep Breaths

Many skin conditions such as acne and eczema are caused by stress. So if you lower your stress levels, your skin will naturally look younger and healthier.

A simple (not to mention completely free) trick would be to take a few minutes at the end of each day and take deep breaths that last for approximately 10 seconds each.

Try it out tonight!
