Chamomile tea is something we hear very often. It is in tea and sometimes, it is added as garnishing on meals. Chamomile contains nutrients that you need on a daily basis. These benefits include:

1. It accelerates the healing process and also disinfects the wounds.

2. It is an all-natural skin bleach. It lightens your complexion and gives it a healthy glow.

3. It helps to soothe skin irritation and sunburn.

4. It is a powerhouse of antioxidants that helps you fight acne and breakouts. It also helps to eliminate acne scars.

5. It also helps to protect skin from radical damage.

Porcelain’s Revive, Makeup Cleanser has chamomile as one of its key active ingredients. It is a pre-cleanser that doubles up as a makeup remover. Also it is suitable even for sensitive skin and is very gentle on the skin. With the orchid extract in the product, it has a very subtle floral scent.

Step 1: Pre-cleansing your skin

Most of us spend our weekends going out with our friends and having fun. Others spend time partying with their loved ones at gatherings and functions. With all this partying going on, we tend to pile on some make up just to make ourselves look presentable.

But did you know that by wearing makeup, you are not allowing your skin to breathe? Most make up that we use are not oil-free. All these oils in the makeup will slowly seep into our pores and begin to clog it up. Also, because we are putting on layers of cosmetics on our skin, our pores are only able to absorb the oils instead of natural oxygen which eventually causes the skin cells on our face to lack oxygen.

But fear not my ladies, there is always a way for you to keep looking pretty every weekend and ensure your skin looks amazing all the time.

Porcelain has a product that is perfect to combat pore congestion. With Porcelain’s Revive, Makeup Cleanser, your make up will come off very easily and it hydrates your skin from deep within. With orchid extract in the cleanser, it will definitely leave your skin moisturized. Also, with the added chamomile extract, it has anti-inflammatory properties which will reduce any redness on your skin after a whole night of make up on.

Step 2: Exfoliate your skin

To soothe your face even further, Porcelain’s Revive, Natural Skin Refiner will do the trick. It helps to remove dead skin cells and reduce congestion. Also, it has aloe extract that helps to make your skin feel smooth and reduces any irritation on the skin. It also helps to hydrate your skin as well after a whole night of your skin not being able to breathe.

Step 3: Moisturize and balance out your skin

But after all this, you most definitely need to remember to balance your skin out.

Porcelain’s Balance Sebum Control Essence helps to balance the skin’s pH level as well as to increase moisture on your skin. Adding on to that, after a whole night of wearing makeup, the essence also helps to reduce congestion.

Always remember to cleanse your face of any makeup to avoid any clogged pores or congestion. Keep your skin moisturized and hydrated after a long day of not allowing your skin to breathe any pure oxygen.  If you do all this, your skin will look amazing.

Before we go on to tell you how to minimize your pore size, let us first answer the question of many – ‘Why do I have such large pores?!’

#1 People with oily skin tend to have large pores

When you have oily skin, it tends to produce excess sebum.  This results in more oil and dirt collected in your skin, making the pore swell and looking larger than usual.

This does not mean that people with normal and dry skin will not have to deal with the problem of large pores. Though people with normal or dry skin tend to have smaller pores than those with combination or oily skin, they are still susceptible to open or large pore problems.

#2 Your pore size tends to increase with age

As you get older, you skin starts to lose its elasticity, which can cause your pores to look bigger. The effects of environmental aggressors such as sun damage, also typically accumulates with age. Simply put, the older you get, the more likely you’ve been exposed to the sun for longer hours, which causes your skin to thicken and pore size to increase.

#3 Genetic predisposition

You may have large pores due to your genetic predisposition. As with many other things – height, intelligence, body size, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that your pore size could well be attributed to your genetic predisposition. It simply means if one or both of your parents have large pores, it’s likely that you might have gotten it from them.

#4 Hormonal changes

Women may observe larger pores due to menstruation, pregnancy or menopause. Larger pores are usually more noticeable around their nose and cheeks, and this condition may come and go as hormonal levels fluctuate, but as women age, the difficulty of reducing the pore size increases.

Enough said about the problems.

Here’s bringing to you our recommended solutions:

#1 Exfoliation

Without exfoliating your skin, the dirt and dead skin cells are likely to accumulate and cause you to have larger pores. During puberty, pores often enlarge to handle the increased oil output from sebaceous glands. Most enlarged pores appear at nose, chin, and forehead (the T-zone area) so you might want to concentrate your exfoliation on these affected areas.

Porcelain’s Revive – Natural Skin Refiner can help with that…

The Revive – Natural Skin Refiner is a gentle and non-abrasive exfoliator that is suitable for all skin types. It gets rid of dull skin, improving skin radiance and texture. This is specially formulated with natural enzymes to dissolve dead skin cells and stimulate cell renewal.

#2 Use a Pore Strip

Pore strips can come in quite handy in reducing your pore size. All you need to do is let it sit on your skin for around 10 to 15 minutes and peel it off once it dries up. Those who have tried it before might have observed tiny looking hairs stuck onto your strip. Here’s the good news – they are actually not hairs, they are the sebum and dead skin cells that were clogging your pores and contributing to the appearance of large and open pores. I’d highly recommend you to splash some cold water onto your face to close up the pores.

#3 Tone your skin

Using a toner is effective when it comes to minimizing your pores.  It may seem like a redundant step for many, but the functions of toners go far and wide, and one of which includes toning your skin, which helps to reduce your pore size.

Similarly from the Revive line, Porcelain’s Revive – Glycolic Toner contains AHAs and BHAs. Enriched with a unique blend of alpha-hydroxy acids and Vitamins C & E, it clarifies sluggish complexions and protects it against free radicals that cause signs of ageing. Infused with sea salt, witch-hazel, aloe vera and Sodium Hyaluronate, this toner also helps soothe inflammation, hydrates, and accelerate collagen and elastin production. Pore Size - Tone with Porcelain's Glycolic Toner to brighten and refine skin

This technology combines RF with FSR to achieve amazing clinical results.

Porcelain’s Newly Launched Balance, Hydraclear Gel is a watery gel that helps to control sebum, supply water, increase water retention and sebum balance in skin. It helps to reduce inflammation and microbial activities which prevents acne formation without causing peeling, sensitivity or redness.

In order to explain how exactly this special formula works, here’s the science behind it.

Causes of Acne

1. Hyperkeratosis*: The thickening of the stratum corneum or outer layer of the skin

2. Bacterial Proliferation: The rapid growth or production of bacteria

3. Sebum Hyper-secretion: Over production of sebum, which can be a result of wrong usage of products, hormonal imbalance, poor diet, stress or unhealthy lifestyle

4. Local Inflammation: A localized protective reaction of tissue to irritation or infection, characterized by pain, redness and swelling.

Consequently, the way to reduce acne is to reduce hypekerotosis, bacterial growth, sebum secretion and inflammation.

Balance – Hydraclear Gel

Based on an In Vivo Test, ran on a period of 42 days, Balance, Hydraclear Gel is able to help with the reduction of active sebum glands by 31% and amount of sebum by 44%, and based on an In Vitro Test, Sebum secretion was reduced by 44%, Hyperkeratosis was reduced by 54%, Inflammatory Activity was reduced by 72% and Bacterial Growth was reduced by 100%.

Benefits

1. Targets all 4 areas of acne reduction

2. It is mild and does not cause drying or peeling

3. Helps to brighten and refine your skin

4. Balances pH, sebum and moisture levels

5. It is cooling & soothing and has a watery gel texture

Last but not least, it helps you achieve the clear, hydrated and healthy skin you wish for! 🙂

The Balance – Hydraclear Gel is suitable for all skin types.

To fight wrinkles and other signs of aging, you need to keep your skin protected and hydrated. Though you can’t turn back hands of time, these anti-aging skincare tips will help keep your skin smoother and younger looking.

Eat For Skin Health

What we eat has a huge impact on how we look, especially when it comes to achieving that much-coveted youthful glow. Get plenty of healthy fats – omega-3s and monounsaturated fat – which help regenerate skin at the cellular level, improve texture and tone and help ensure skin looks supple. Get these smart fats from fatty fish (salmon, mackerel, herring, halibut, sardines), avocado, olives and olive oil.

Choose food that are rich in lutein – a carotenoid that may help protect your skin from the inside out. The best sources of lutein are egg yolks, leafy dark green veggies and fresh corn. Some studies have found that lutein may also protect skin from UV damage.

Foods that are high in antioxidants, such as berries, broccoli, leafy greens (kale, spinach) and tomatoes are also great for your skin. We need antioxidants to help protect the skin from free-radical damage (rough texture, wrinkles, sun spots). Vitamin E is another must for skin health. Add vegetable oils, wheat germ, nuts, seeds and olives to your diet for healthy, glowing skin.

Stay Hydrated

If you want skin to look younger and more supple, drinking enough water is a must. “Dehydrated skin looks wrinkled and rough,” Spano says. Aim for eight glasses a day, which will also help you lose weight, aid digestion, improve your energy and concentration and flush toxins from your body. Keep a reusable bottle in your purse for easy, on-the-go sipping.

Anti-Aging Skin Care

Cleanse: Gently wash your face both morning and night, but steer clear of cleansers that have high alcohol content and other drying agents. Try Porcelain’s Soothe Hydro Cleanser (from Soothe range) for herbal extracts and mild cleansing.

Exfoliate: Exfoliate your skin weekly with a gentle facial exfoliator, which will get rid of dead skin cells and keep skin smooth, healthy and fresh.  Try Porcelain’s Revive, Natural Skin Refiner. It contains Natural Enzymes which help soften dead skin cells, and gently rub it away without agitating your skin.

Moisturize: Apply moisturizer over your entire face and neck twice a day. Dry, aging skin loses its elasticity, which is when wrinkles start to form. Try Porcelain’s Balance Essence. It contains 50% Sodium Hyaluronate which studies have proven that each droplet is a thousand times more absorbent than water. Meanwhile, Balance Essence helps lock in collagen and elastin which eventually slows down aging process.

Protect Your Skin

No matter your age, you need to protect your skin from the sun. Not only can sun exposure lead to skin cancer, it will also cause dryness, sun spots, wrinkles and other visible signs of aging. Always use a moisturizer, sunscreen and cosmetics that contain SPF 15 or higher. If you spend a lot of time in the sun each day, wear both sunglasses and a hat.
