Eat it. Drink it. Rub it on your skin. Whichever way you slice it, the grapefruit has healing properties that can improve one’s skin quality.

With that said, grapefruit has a distinctive tanginess that may not suit everyone’s taste buds. But a way to attaining great complexion is to add it into your diet. The tangy fruit is well reported to boost one’s health by flushing toxins from the body, thereby having a compounding positive effects on one’s skin!

If you do not appreciate its unique taste, do not fret, as you can incorporate the fruit into your skincare regime instead. The exotic fruit has been gaining popularity as it is increasingly touted as a beauty must-have and the secret to a beautiful complexion. An excellent source of vitamin C, it’s one of nature’s most powerful antioxidants, vitamins A and E and minerals.

Here are five reasons why you should start applying grapefruit onto your skin:

1. Grapefruit is Great for Anti-ageing

Vitamins found in grapefruit stimulate collagen production, which enhances the plumpness and suppleness of your skin. Reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, your skin will appear fuller and more youthful. Especially beneficial for aging skin, grapefruit is known to improve skin’s elasticity and reverse the signs of aging.

2.  It Evens Out Skintones

Rich in anti-oxidants such as retinol, grapefruit renews damaged skin and treats skin pigmentation. Essentially, it evens out your skin tone, leaving you fresh-faced with a clear and bright complexion. Aside from rejuvenating your skin, it makes the skin softer and firmer to the touch.

3. It Even Fights Free Radicals

Grapefruit contains vital minerals, such as potassium, which helps smoothen wrinkles and act as protective shields against harmful UV rays.

High in water content, grapefruit hydrates your skin by creating a moisture barrier. This barrier makes the skin more resistant to environmental pollutants, as well as free-radical damage from sun exposure. As summer approaches, make grapefruit the snack of your choice to protect your skin.

4. It Also Reduces Acne

If you struggle with acne, grapefruit can help by gently controlling outbreaks. Due to its exfoliating nature, it is suitable for oily and acne-prone skin. Healing the skin naturally with its antibacterial properties, grapefruit can aid you in your quest in fighting acne.

5. It’s A Real Smooth Talker

Use this citrus fruit to get rid of dark and rough patches on your knees and elbows. Packed with Vitamin C that helps to fade dark spots, grapefruit can be an effective way to lighten discolouration while smoothening its texture. Unsightly and rough textures be-gone!

Fair

If you have fair skin, you are likely to be prone to irritation, sensitivity and UV damage. You also show signs of premature aging the earliest. Simply put, wrinkles, pigmentation and skin roughness are common problems you’d spot.

This is why it is important for you to choose skin care products that protects your skin from UV damage. Since sun protection is the key to healthy skin for you, you should use a sunscreen daily, with at least SPF 20. It is also recommended for you to exfoliate your skin regularly to slough off the damaged surface skin and reveal younger and healthier skin.

Medium

You have more melanin in your skin, giving you natural UV protection, hence premature aging would not be that huge a concern. You may however, be more likely to experience hyperpigmentation. You are also more prone to breakouts and large pores.

Cleansers containing salicylic acid can help to reduce both oil and breakouts. A common mistake is to pile on powder to mattify your face, but we would advice you against it as it may end up clogging your pores. You may want to use blotting papers instead for a quick fix.

Dark

You are the least prone to UV damage and likely to appear more youthful as compared to your fairer skinned peers. (yay!) However, hyperpigmentation and acne scars can be a problem.

Similar to people with medium skin tone, you should use cleansers that contain salicylic acid once or twice a day. This can help you fight acne problems. It is also recommended for you to introduce spot treatment products into your beauty regimen to prevent unsightly and stubborn acne/pigmentation spots.

Now that you know your skin tone characteristics, it would be wise to tweak your skin care regimen according to your skin tone to optimize the results of your products! GOOD LUCK 😀

How To Get Rid Of Baggy Eyes And Dark Circles

Getting dark circles and baggy eyes has now become a common problem and haunts both old and middle-aged people and even youngsters these days. Stress, late working hours, faulty diet, etc can be blamed for causing puffy eyes and dark circles. However, it can be easily sorted out if you follow few precautionary measures and take effective steps. Read further to know how to curb the problem.

  • Mash a tomato well into a paste. Add a pinch of turmeric powder and lemon juice and apply this mixture underneath the eyes. After a period of ten minutes, wash your face with water. Do this regularly to ward off the dark circles.
  • Take a few drops of almond oil and massage it gently under your eyes for ten minutes to treat dark circles.
  • Take a bowl of ice cold water and dip two cotton wool balls in it. Now, take them out and squeeze out the excess liquid. Next, place the cotton balls on your eyes until they become warm.
  • Cut a cucumber into thick slices and place a slice over each eye. Lie down for ten to fifteen minutes and relax with your eyes closed. By doing this, not only your eyes get rejuvenated but it also aids in getting rid of tired and puffy eyes.
  • Another way to cool your eyes is to apply chilled tea bags or by wrapping an ice cube in a soft cloth and then placing it over your eyes.

Healthy And Beautiful Eyes Secrets

  • Drink plenty of water to keep your eyes well-moisturized and sparkling.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol as it causes redness in the eyes.
  • To add a glamorous touch to your eyes and make them look attractive, use eye lash curlers. Many beauty stores today sell ordinary metal eye lash curlers at reasonable prices.
  • Avoid junk and salty foods as they cause water retention, which in turn makes the skin near the eyes bloated.
  • Wear glares to protect your eyes from the harmful ultraviolet rays. Buy branded sun glasses as cheap ones are harmful.
  • Every morning, splash your eyes with generous amounts of water to keep it cool and clean.
  • Gorge on foods that are rich in vitamin A and C such as mangoes, oranges, spinach, fish, pumpkins, tomato, capsicum, cabbage, and the like.
  • Constant glaring at computers or TV can damage your eyes so take few minutes break from time to time.
  • Avoid reading in dim light or working in front of the computer system for long hours as this will lead to dark circles and baggy eyes.
  • Taking adequate rest and sleeping for at least seven to eight hours is a must to keep your eyes glowing.

Puffy Eyes

Cold Splash! – As mentioned, having puffy eyes can be nothing more than a problematic fluid circulation in your face. An easy and cool way to bring back your eyes to their normal appearance is to splash cold water directly on your eye area and the rest of your face. The cold temperature of the water is all you need to jumpstart the fluid circulation in your face.

Tea Bag Patch – Try using teabags. Two teabags moistened by cold water and patched on your puffy eyes for five to ten minutes can reinvigorate your eyes and hold off the puffiness. Again, the coldness of the teabags can help to increase circulation in your face. But more than that, tea has tannin that can also help in tightening the skin in your eye area; thereby, effectively decreasing the bulge in your eyes.

Eye Bags

Nobody looks good with puffy bags under their eyes, but how to get rid of them? Everyone’s got their magic potions, but this is the easiest remedy I’ve ever run across, and it really works!

Raw potato slices will help tighten baggy, puffy eyes. All you need is a potato and a knife or slicer!

To Make:

1. Slice 1/4 potato to fit over your eyes.
2. Cut 2 slices or, if you prefer, 5 to 10 very thin slices, several for each eye. Either method works.

Lying down, place the potato slices on your eyelids and leave in place for at least 10 minutes for best results.

Saggy Skin

Gravity does take its toll, but something else is at work here: Over time, the skin’s underlying structure breaks down, robbing our faces of their definition, youthful plumpness, and resilience. Skin also renews itself much more slowly than it once did.

Facial exercise is the smartest thing you can do to stop the cause of aging in your face but not all facial exercise programs work. Find out more here!

Dull / Tired Skin

1. The fastest and easiest way to instantly wake up tired looking skin in the morning is to splash your face with cold water, or take an ice cube and rub it over your face for a few seconds. The reason is that cold water as well as ice stimulates blood circulation, which will temporarily invigorate fatigued skin. As an added bonus, this also helps to tighten large skin pores so your face appear much smoother and softer.

2. Exfoliation should also be a regular part of your skincare routine if you want to brighten sallow skin. Scrub your skin 3 times a week to remove dull rough skin texture and reveal younger, brighter looking skin that is supple and silky soft to the touch.

Smile

Last, but not least, smile! It’s the prettiest thing you can wear!
