Goodbye Oily Skin

Some of us have to go through the trouble of always having an oil-blotting sheet in our purse because we have oily skin. Do not fret, here are some tips that might help get rid of that oily skin.

1. Cleansers

Avoid buying cleansers that contain sulphates which will cause immediate tightness after cleansing as this will cause your skin to produce more oil than necessary. Instead opt for an “Oil-Control Cleanser” that is formulated with activated charcoal that will help to purify the skin without drying it out. Also, do not wash your face with hot water but light steaming once a week accompanied by your evening regimen should be good.

2. Exfoliation

Exfoliate your skin mildly. Scrubbing your face too often or too long might cause more oil production. Do it once or twice a week and lightly scrub the face. Buying a facial scrub that contains Salicylic Acid will help to gently exfoliate and also reduce acne.

3. Toner

Use a toner that is acetone and alcohol free. If the toner contains alcohol, it will send messages to the oil glands to produce more oil. It would be best to avoid them.

4. Moisturiser

Instead of using a moisturiser, use a hydrating serum. If your skin is very oily, use the serum only at night. But if your skin is somewhat oily, you can use the serum once in the morning and once at night. A hydrating serum does not only help to hydrate the skin, it also helps to keep skin glowing and smooth. Only use a hydrating moisturiser when skin feels dry after using the serum twice per day.

5. Sunscreen

Never forget to protect your skin from the sun. End off your skin care routine with a sunscreen with SPF 30 or more and your skin will thank you for it! Do not use a moisturiser containing sunscreen. Your sunscreen should just be purely a sunscreen.
