2. WASH AWAY THAT MAKEUP

Always remember to wash away the makeup on your face before you go to sleep. Sleeping with your makeup on would be one of the ways to get your pores clogged up. Adding on to that, sleeping with your makeup on will cause your skin to look dull and lifeless.

There is a simple way to make your own makeup remover at home. This would be all that you need!

–          ½ cup of Extra virgin olive oil

–          One bottle of aloe vera or filtered water

–          A couple of cotton pads

Instructions

Pour the oil into the bottle of water and shake. Because oil doesn’t mix with water, you need to immediately use after you shake. That’s it! You’ve got your own makeup remover at home.

3. PICK THE RIGHT CLEANSER AND EXFOLIATE

Remember to pick the right cleanser that is suitable to your skin type. Do not use normal soap as it might cause your skin to be dry. Also, do remember to exfoliate at least twice a week. However, if you do have oily skin, you might have to exfoliate more than twice.

You can make the cleanser and exfoliate at home! Here is what you need for the cleanser!

–          1/8 ground roasted almonds

–          2 tablespoons of milk

–          1 teaspoon of lemon juice

Just combine all the ingredients together until you get a paste. Then just gently cleanse your skin with it. There you go, your very own cleanser!

But wait, you can also make your own face scrub! All you need is coffee! Yes, you read it right, COFFEE! Coffee is a natural exfoliant and it makes your skin softer. All you need to do is ground some coffee or use the leftover from your morning’s coffee, add a tablespoon of water and mix well. Then just rub gently on your face and pat your skin dry. Your face will feel soft and smooth after!

4. GET YOUR BEAUTY SLEEP

When you don’t get enough sleep or rest, it’l start to show on your skin, especially on your face. When you don’t get enough rest, blood vessels begin to dilate and that’s when you start getting dark eye circles! Also, your skin will start to sag and become really dull. So the trick is to always get enough sleep and now we all know why they call it beauty sleep.

It is of utmost importance that you wear sunscreen daily. If you know you’re going to be out in the sun for long period, choose a sunscreen with high SPF and remember to re-apply! It’s really better to be safe than sorry. You don’t want to see pigmentation and wrinkles forming, and start regretting not slapping on sufficient sunscreen.

Oily skin can be quite bothering, and we know that facial blotters might not be the best and a long term solution to it. How then, should we control the shine, which could potentially make us look really un-fresh & kill our confidence? Below is a compilation of 5 useful tips that helps in mattifying oily skin.

#1 Wash right

Washing right might sound extremely commonsensical, but the trick really is to get the right cleanser. We recommend choosing one with salicylic acid, which helps to break down oil in the pores. It degreases but does not over dry your skin.

#2 Use a physical sunscreen

Physical sunscreens help to control oil & shine, since it contains oil absorbing zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. Plus, it prevents premature aging (pigmentation, fine lines, dull skin, wrinkles) and is a MUST-USE, even for day to day activities.

#3 Avoid piling on the makeup

Foundation and BB cream clogs your pores and causes them to produce more oil, so it will be best to avoid them altogether. Instead, it’d be good to opt for tinted moisturizers that are oil free and does not clog pores.

#4 Watch what you eat

Consider loading on carrots, spinach, sweet potato and other foods that are high in vitamin A content, as it actually helps to reduce oil production.

#5 Exfoliate once or twice a week

Exfoliating your skin helps to loosen the impurities and reduces oil stuck in your pores, which consequently reduces the pore size.
