Find yourself avoiding sleeveless cause of unsightly underarms? It is a common problem that many women faces, especially with excessive shaving over time, and a lack of care for your underarms.

To get rid of this problem, let us first get to the root of it and look at the common causes of dark underarms:

1. Shaving
When you shave with a razor, it results in stubbles which makes you look like you have dark underarms. Apart of that, shaving results in ingrown hair, which further worsens the appearance of dark armpits. Our recommendation is, try waxing or IPL hair removal instead.

2. Dead Skin Cells
Similar to our face, our underarms require exfoliation as well. You can scrub your underarms gently with loofahs or scrubs. Try to do it once or twice a week for best results 🙂

3. Excessive Use of Deodorants!
We understand the importance of deodorants, especially for hot climates which results in sweating and body odour that is a major turn off. However, many studies have found that the strong chemical ingredients used in some deodorants may lead to pigmentation and darker underarms. Our suggestion is, use deodorants designed for sensitive skin. They contain milder ingredients that will not be harmful to your underarm skin or cause unsightly pigmentation.

Other than switching to waxing or IPL hair removal, exfoliating regularly and opting for milder deodorants, we’re also sharing with you a few natural remedies you can use to get rid of darkened underarms:

1. Lemon Juice
Simply rub a slice of fresh lemon on the pigmented area. It’s quick and easy!

2. Vitamin E Oil
Apply some vitamin E oil on affected area. It helps to improve the smoothness of your underarm skin, making it look less rough and ‘dirty’.

3. Baking Soda!
Use baking soda to replace your deodorants! It is able to absorb extra moisture and help prevent body odour.

Remember to be diligent in your underarm care, and you’d be able to show them off comfortably and confidently!

1.  Wear something flattering

It is a common mistake to go a bit too far in trying to impress your first dates, and end up wearing something that is over the top.  Remember, simplicity is key. Opt for something that flatters your body shape and is not too dressy. This way, it won’t go wrong.

2. Wear comfortable lingerie

Wearing comfortable lingerie is vital in making you feel sexy and confident. Who cares even if you are the only one who knows what you’re wearing. It’s going to make a difference in the way you feel and present yourself.

3. Pamper your skin the night before

Apart from the usual cleansing, toning and moisturizing, you might want to give your skin an extra boost the night before an important date. Some last minute quick fixes include exfoliation and putting on a sheet mask to instantly slough away dead skin cells and hydrate your skin, making it look smooth, youthful and supple!

4. Tame your mane

Frizzy hair can be quite a distraction. You won’t want him to be staring at your hair, instead of your face. Remember to tame your mane by blow drying your hair and applying a thin layer of hair serum to keep it soft and silky. The key here is not to over-apply. No one likes greasy looking hair.

5. Tame your brows

Tweeze your brows to make it look clean and tidy. Top it up with an eyebrow pencil to make it look more defined and help you achieve a cleaner and neater look. Do find an eyebrow pencil that matches your hair colour, so it does not look too ‘outstanding’, in the wrong way of course.

6. Remember to shave

No guy likes a hairy girl. Please get rid of excess hair in all areas visible – arms, legs and underarms. You can either use a hair removal cream, regular shaver or an epilator. In all cases, remember to be gentle and hydrate your skin afterwards.

7. Smell good and fresh

A minty fresh breath will boost your confidence. To maintain that fresh breath, gargle your mouth with a mouthwash before heading out and bring a packet of mints with you. Also, don’t forget to spray on some perfume but don’t be too generous with it. You don’t want him to sneeze every time he goes near you.

8. Dress according to the venue or activity

Please DO NOT wear a pair of stilettos to a park or for a picnic. It simply does not make sense. If you’re in for a surprise and are not sure where you’re headed, just ask him what you should wear.

9. Go for a natural look

Do not pile on loads of make up. Most guys would prefer a natural look – a thin layer of mascara, lip-gloss and blusher would pretty much cut it.

10. Be YOURSELF

Last but not least, just be yourself and be comfortable. Your appearance may create a great first impression but it’s your personality that is going to make it last. Good luck! 🙂
