Blackheads can get really unsightly, affecting your overall skin appearance and making it look dull and congested. But not to worry, you’re not alone in this battle against blackheads. It is a very common problem, among both males and females. So we’ve decided to compile some easy to prepare face masks which helps you say goodbye to blackheads…

Here are some DIY face masks that aid in blackhead removal: 

1. Baking Soda 
This is such an easily accessible ingredient, but yet so effective when it comes to removing blackheads.  Here’s how you can use baking soda to remove blackheads – mix baking soda with water to form a mixture of paste. Then apply it to your face and leave on for around 5- 10 minutes, before you start gently massaging and exfoliating your skin. Rinse off with warm water and say hello to a cleaner and smoother skin!

2. Lemon Juice & Sugar
Mix a few drops of lemon juice into a tablespoon of sugar, then gently spread the mixture on the affected areas of your face while massaging in circular motion. (Remember to be gentle as sugar is quite coarse and you don’t want to hurt your skin). Rinse off with warm water. Try to use this mask at night before you sleep as lemon and lemon juice may be drying for your skin, making it more vulnerable to sun damage. Also, always remember to use sunscreen after that and avoid sun activity for the next day.

3. Egg White
Add a teaspoon of honey into your egg white and apply the mixture onto affected areas. Leave on for about 5-10 minutes, then gently scrub it off using a warm damp cloth. Other than removing your blackheads, it also tightens your skin, so you can use this mask for your entire face as well 🙂

4. Oatmeal & Yoghurt
Mix 1 tablespoons of plain yoghurt, 1 tablespoon of oatmeal (finely ground) and a few drops of honey together. Apply the mask on your face and leave it on for around 10 minutes. Rinse off with warm water and voila, you’d have softer skin!

You can use the recommended masks once or twice a week (except the lemon juice & sugar mask as it may over dry the skin, so you might want to stick to 1 application per month) for best results! 😀

For dry skin

Plain Yoghurt & Oatmeal Masks

–        2 tbsp of plain yoghurt
–        1-2 tbsp of cooked oatmeal
–        1 tbsp of honey

Steps:

  1. Mix everything into a paste
  2. Apply on face and leave on for 10-15 minutes
  3. Rinse off with warm water

Apple-Honey Mask

Ingredients:

–        1 apple
–        1 tbsp of honey

Steps:

  1. Blend both apple and honey in a blender until smooth
  2. Apply on your face and leave on for 15 minutes
  3. Rinse off

 

For oily skin

Lemon Sugar Scrub

Ingredients:

–        ½ lemon
–        ½ cup sugar
–        1 tbsp of honey
–        1 tbsp of olive oil

Steps:

  1. Add all ingredients together and mix, then place your mixture in a jar
  2. You may concentrate application on rougher and duller areas like elbows and knees
  3. When applying on face, use in gentle circular motion
  4. Best to use once or twice weekly

 

For acneic skin

Plain Yoghurt & Aspirin Masks

–        5 crushed aspirin
–        1 tbsp of honey

Steps:

  1. Mix everything into a paste
  2. Apply on face and leave on for 10-15 minutes

For dull skin

Honey Banana Pack – Give hydration to your dry skin!

Did you know that a banana not only taste excellent but also good for your skin? It soothes the skin and helps circulation while nourishing skin with antioxidants and other minerals. Banana has no known side effects to skin thus it is effective for sensitive, acne-prone skin. Potassium in a banana can help heal blemishes faster. And also banana will make your skin softer and hydrated. Perfect for dry skin! Don’t forget that a banana is good for your anti-aging. If you are worried about getting fat, give bananas to your skin!

–          Ingredients : banana 1, honey 1 tsp, yogurt 2 tsp, flour 1 tsp

Mash the banana and mix all the ingredients together! Then apply it to your face with a brush. After 10-15 minutes, gently wash off your face with warm water. Banana and honey will give you moisture to your skin! Feel moist-full skin. Did you find it effective? Also you can make use of banana peels. Grab banana peels and rub the insides of banana peels onto your skin. Banana skins have a lot of nutrients which work the same as bananas!

 

Lemon juice Facial Wash – Perfect way to brighten and make your skin elastic!

One of the cheapest and most easily accessible things for healthier skin is definitely lemon! It is good for acne, brown spots, skin whitening, and pigmentation. It works well on oily skin and lightens the skin too. Acid in lemon acts as an antiseptic and kills the bacteria. Also, if you are worried about blackheads, lemon is also a good choice!

–          Ingredients : only lemon

Cut lemon in half and squeeze the lemon. With the juice of lemon, massage your face for 2-3 minutes avoiding your delicate eyes. Carefully wash your face to remove lemon! Don’t forget to give enough moisture. Acid in lemon can steal your moisture. Lemon wash twice a week and you will get white spotless skin.

 

Aloe Pack – Let’s give our exhausted skin a rest.

Let our skin rest from the intensive Sun! Aloe is the best thing to enhance moisture and soothe skin. Do you know that Aloe was called ‘plant of immortality’ in ancient Egypt? Since then Aloe has been used as remedy for sun burn and inflammation. However if you think that this is all for Aloe, you misunderstood Aloe! Aloe is also good for acne and cell rejuvenation.

–          Ingredients : Raw aloe

Peel off raw aloe and cut the inner part into thin slices. Put it on your face and leave it for 10-15 minutes. After moist from aloe penetrate into your skin, remove it! Or if you are a skin-conscious person, scrape the aloe and mix it with 1tsp honey and 1tsp adlay powder and put it on your clean face. Rinse off your face 10-15 minutes later and your skin is ready to go out for lovely dinner date!

 

Egg white and honey pack – Exfoliate, balance, tighten pore and make your skin glow!

Egg white is not only used in making meringues but also used as a base for a lot of skin masks. Egg white is known as an instant face lifter and pore tightner. You have to be aware that these effects are only temporary and smell can be quite nasty before the whites of eggs dries up.

–          Ingredients : white of an egg, milk 1tsp, honey 1tsp

Put all the things in blender and blend it until the foam forms. What a rhyme! Do not try to mix it on your own, you will go muscular. After cleansing your face, put the mixture on your skin. When the mixture dries up after 5-7 minutes, get ready to feel the difference? Wash it off! You will be surprised to have glowing skin. Don’t forget to do this pack regularly about 3 times a week! Besides mixing egg whites with honey, you can add avocados, milk, oatmeal and other natural pleasures according to your skin conditions.

 

Almond Oil Therapy – Effective cleanser for your delicate skin!

Did you know that almond oil was used for skin care since Roman Empire? Let’s make porcelain skin with almond! We can take advantage of almonds better in liquid form than in solid form. Almond oil is rich in vitamin A, D, E and has magnesium and calcium. In addition it is famous for its emollient effect. It helps reduce skin irritation, delays aging process, smoothes the skin and improves the skin tone! Let’s try.

–          Ingredients : piece of cotton, almond oil

Just dip a piece of cotton in almond oil and wipe off your face with it! How easy it is! All the nutrients will go into your skin smoothly and give your dry skin nutrients.

1. Almonds 

Almonds are an incredible nutritional source of vitamin E, dietary fiber, protein and magnesium. Eating almonds help lower cholesterol. It also increases energy levels, softens the skin, reduces food cravings and improves sleep patterns.

Skin care products that contain almonds are especially effective for treating dry and sensitive skin.

So if you have dry and sensitive skin, you can try the following homemade face mask:
1. Mix 2 tablespoons of crushed almonds with 1 tablespoon of honey.
2. Apply the mixture to your face for 5 minutes
3. Rinse it off with cool water.

Your skin will absorb the vitamins and nutrients in the almond. It will leave your face refreshed and revitalized. 

2. Oatmeal

When applied to the face, oatmeal works by cleaning and moisturizing the skin to soothe and relieve skin irritations. It also works effectively to reduce skin dryness and itching.

For smoother and softer skin, try mixing an oatmeal face mask:
1. Mix oatmeal with water or milk
2. Cover your entire face with the mixture and let it dry for 10 to 15 minutes.
3. Rinse it off with warm water.

Oatmeal also helps remove dead skin cells, revealing fresher and clearer skin.

3. Avocado

Avocado is a rich source of vitamin A, B, D and E. Avocado contains more potassium than a banana, allowing skin care products infused with avocado to penetrate the skin more evenly and quickly. With their healthy fats and phytonutrients, avocado offers remarkable benefits to human, both when eaten and applied directly on your skin.

To moisturize your skin, simply mash one avocado into a bowl and apply it to your face. If you wish, you can even apply it on your back, hands and feet.

4. Egg Whites

Egg whites face mask can give you firmer looking skin and fewer breakouts. It also reduces redness and inflammation and helps ward off wrinkles and tighten sagging skin.

Follow the following steps for firmer and clearer skin.
1. Separate out the yoke from the egg white
2. Pat the egg white onto a clean face. (Make sure your hair is clear from your face)
3. Let the mask dry for about 10 minutes
4. Rinse off with lukewarm water.

This formula works wonders for oily or combination skin. You can use it every week for best results!
