Blackheads can get really unsightly, affecting your overall skin appearance and making it look dull and congested. But not to worry, you’re not alone in this battle against blackheads. It is a very common problem, among both males and females. So we’ve decided to compile some easy to prepare face masks which helps you say goodbye to blackheads…

Here are some DIY face masks that aid in blackhead removal:

1. Baking Soda
This is such an easily accessible ingredient, but yet so effective when it comes to removing blackheads.  Here’s how you can use baking soda to remove blackheads – mix baking soda with water to form a mixture of paste. Then apply it to your face and leave on for around 5- 10 minutes, before you start gently massaging and exfoliating your skin. Rinse off with warm water and say hello to a cleaner and smoother skin!

2. Lemon Juice & Sugar
Mix a few drops of lemon juice into a tablespoon of sugar, then gently spread the mixture on the affected areas of your face while massaging in circular motion. (Remember to be gentle as sugar is quite coarse and you don’t want to hurt your skin). Rinse off with warm water. Try to use this mask at night before you sleep as lemon and lemon juice may be drying for your skin, making it more vulnerable to sun damage. Also, always remember to use sunscreen after that and avoid sun activity for the next day.

3. Egg White
Add a teaspoon of honey into your egg white and apply the mixture onto affected areas. Leave on for about 5-10 minutes, then gently scrub it off using a warm damp cloth. Other than removing your blackheads, it also tightens your skin, so you can use this mask for your entire face as well 🙂

4. Oatmeal & Yoghurt
Mix 1 tablespoons of plain yoghurt, 1 tablespoon of oatmeal (finely ground) and a few drops of honey together. Apply the mask on your face and leave it on for around 10 minutes. Rinse off with warm water and voila, you’d have softer skin!

You can use the recommended masks once or twice a week (except the lemon juice & sugar mask as it may over dry the skin, so you might want to stick to 1 application per month) for best results! 😀

Here are some quick and easy DIY remedies compiled for you to use at home everyday. Choose a few that suit your skin’s needs and reveal more radiant, youthful, smoother and softer skin!

I’ve always wanted to know Korean skincare tricks; have you seen KPOP stars’ skin? Fair. Flawless. Gorgeous. Just look at Sandara Park from 2NE1, Suzy from Miss A, Song Ji Hyo and Song Hye Kyo (just to name a few). They have such amazingly radiant, fair, soft and smooth skin. It is to die for.

Now, many Koreans are naturally fair skinned, but it cannot honestly be said that they are born with good skin. It comes with a good amount of time and effort before they achieve that glowing skin every girl (or guy) would wish for.

I’m a strong believer of ‘There are no ugly women, only lazy ones’. I’m sure most of you know one girl who looked less-than-attractive as a child or teenager, but ‘transformed’ over the years. Now, I daresay she must have invested a lot more time and effort in grooming herself – she probably grew her range of skin care products, added more clothes to her wardrobe and paid more attention to her skin, hair and nails.

If she can do it, so can you! Just put in that extra effort, and you could look as great as a KPOP star 🙂

Here are 5 skincare secrets of Korean celebrities. You’d be surprised by how simple yet effective they are. Just look at the above-mentioned KPOP stars for proof.

KOREAN SKINCARE TIP #1: Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!

Drinking lots of water will help to maintain your skin’s healthy glow and moisture. Koreans also believe in eating their water by adding more fruits and vegetables into their diet. As obvious as this may sound, many of us are still guilty of drinking less than 8 glasses of water a day, and not eating enough fruits and vegetables. This could well be the reason why your skin is lacklustre! Gradually change your diet. I assure you, a difference will be seen and felt 🙂

KOREAN SKINCARE TIP #2: Get Sufficient Sleep

Let me quote Sandara here to make my point more convincing: ‘My beauty secret to achieving that rosy and fair complexion is to get a good night’s sleep.’ Again, this is something that everyone knows, but how many of us are actually getting sufficient sleep every day? Try sleeping early and getting at least 8 hours of sleep for a week. Not only will you look less like a panda, your skin will also be clearer and brighter!

KOREAN SKINCARE TIP #3: Cleanse, Tone & Moisturize

Koreans are very diligent when it comes to their skincare regimen, and this includes cleansing, toning and moisturizing, twice a day, everyday without fail. When it comes to cleansing, Suzy believes in rinsing with lukewarm water but splashing her face with cold water at the end to close the opened pores. Rinsing with warm water helps to open pores and thus cleanses more thoroughly, while cold water shrinks the pores and keep your skin fine and smooth. A simple trick, but works wonders!

Koreans are huge fans of sheet masks. It acts as a quick fix to instantly moisturize, brighten and rejuvenate skin. Apart from getting her beauty sleep, Sandara will apply a sheet mask before sleeping when she feels that her skin is getting tired and dry.

KOREAN SKINCARE TIP #5: Apply Light Makeup

I’m sure many of you would have noticed that Koreans always have this effortless – also known as nude – makeup look. To achieve that look, apply thin eyeliner, a thin layer of mascara and use an eyebrow pencil to create neat and tidy brows. Most importantly, keep your skin clear and supple with the above tips, so you won’t have to pile on thick layers of foundation and concealer.

Blackheads are a common skin problem among both men and women. Most of the teenagers get affected by blackheads. If you are hit by blackheads, it is very difficult to get rid of them permanently. Blackheads are a type of acne which is also known as comedones. You can try different scrubs but homemade peel off face masks are natural and effective too. It is best to opt for something natural than harming your skin with harsh chemicals. Peel off face masks take out blackheads, dead skin, oil and open skin pores. You can try some peel off face masks to remove blackheads at home. So, take a change from the scrubbing method.

Homemade Mask

Egg Mask

Egg is one of the beauty ingredients that can reduce blackheads and also helps get a shiny skin naturally. Mix egg yolk with 1tbsp gelatin and 2tbsp milk. Heat on low flame for 1 minute. Keep stirring to make a smooth paste. Let it cool. Apply on the face and let it dry; it will take around 5-10 minutes to dry. After drying, peel off gently with the fingertips. Wash with cold water. This peel off face mask helps get rid of blackheads, opens clogged pores and tightens loose skin.

Lemon & Egg Mask

Lemon juice has Alpha Hydroxy acid that eliminates bacteria, kills germs, tightens skin pores, scrubs out blackheads and dead skin. Mix lemon juice with egg white. Make a paste and apply on the clean face. Leave for 10 minutes. Peel off gently and wash the face with a mild face wash. This takes out left out dirt and oil. Few people hate the smell of egg so, use a mild face wash.

Orange Peel-Off Face Mask

This is one of the most commonly used face masks for blackheads. Dry the peels of an orange for 3-4 days under the sun. Grind the dry peels into a fine powder. Take 1tbsp peel powder and mix with milk. You can also add few drops of lemon juice to the mix. Whisk into a fine paste. Apply the face mask on your face and let it dry; leave for 10-15 minutes. Peel off and rinse with warm water. This face mask opens the clogged pores and removes blackheads, sun tan and dead skin cells.

These are few homemade peel off face masks that can help get rid of blackheads. Always apply a peel off mask after washing the face. Cleanse the face with a face wash to avoid getting rashes. This also makes the ingredients reach inside the skin and show its effect.
